GLOBAL KIDS’ YOUTH LEADERS INSPIRE CHANGE DURING ANNUAL YOUTH CONFERENCE

Students at International High School participated in the Annual Youth Conference by using performance art and music to engage in conversations about racial justice
On May 24, students from across the five boroughs gathered at their schools and D.C. students ventured to our headquarters in New York City to address and advocate for racial justice during our Annual Youth Conference. Our youth leaders chose the topic of the conference and researched and developed peer-educated workshops to empower their peers to advocate for racial justice in their schools and local communities. During the conference, students gave presentations addressing critical issues related to racial justice and how youth can utilize their resources and knowledge to inspire positive change and create a better future for the next generation. Our students exhibited passion and commitment every step of the way for this year’s Youth Conference – a true testament to their dedication to educate and inspire their peers!

YOUTH LEADERS FACE OFF IN TEEN BATTLE CHEF CHALLENGE

This June, Global Kids middle school students from Queens, Manhattan and Brooklyn went head-to-head in a city-wide cooking competition as part of our Teen Battle Chef program, which aims to teach students the fundamentals of cooking, so they can create healthy meals for themselves.
During the exciting event, youth put their culinary skills to the test and prepared four-course meals for a panel of judges. Our students worked together to bring several creative dishes to life, including homemade pasta, traditional Dominican food, tacos, pastries, and more! Following the tasting of the courses, the judges made their decision and recognized Queens-based middle school Q300 as the “Global Kids Master Chef!”

WOMEN IN SPORTS LEADERSHIP PROGRAM, SCHOLARSHIP, AND INTERNSHIP

WiSL participants took a trip to visit the campus of Seton Hall University as part of their week-long exploration of what it takes to pursue a career in sports management.
This spring, we launched our new Women in Sports Leadership (WiSL) program, which exposes female Global Kids youth leaders to the global business of sports management. Our partners at The Players Alliance were instrumental in seeding the development of the WiSL program, which was inspired by Amber Sabathia, executive director of the PitCCh In Foundation. As part of the program, dozens of high school girls from across New York City participated in a week-long immersion program focused on the sports industry and the impact of women both on and off the field.
In addition to the program, we were also thrilled to announce the establishment of the 2024 Amber Sabathia Women in Sports Leadership Scholarship in partnership with The Players Alliance. This competitive scholarship will provide $5,000 to two recipients who have demonstrated interest and commitment to pursuing a career in sports management to support tuition and other related educational expenses.

Thank you to our partners at the Players Alliance for supporting the Women in Sports Leadership initiative
Additionally, we recently announced the 2024 Amber Sabathia Sports Agent Internship Initiative in partnership with The Players Alliance, which will provide internship placement and stipend support for up to two BIPOC women ages 18+ who seek to pursue careers as sports agents. This initiative involves committing to a 12-week internship program and completing community service at the WiSL program.
Global Kids will be accepting applications through August 9, 2024 for the scholarship and internship initiative. Those interested in applying or learning more can visit www.globalkids.org.
We’d like to extend our sincere gratitude to Amber Sabathia and The Players Alliance for inspiring our female students and alumni to reach for the sky when it comes to their career goals. We’re so grateful for your support and belief in our mission!
CONGRATULATIONS 2024 GRADUATES!
Above: Students share how Global Kids’ college access work has impacted their lives.
We were happy to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of our students who graduated this year at our annual Senior Extravaganza held June 17 at our headquarters. We took this time to recognize their participation and hard work and wish them well as they enroll in college. The students in attendance were actively involved in Global Kids’ programs over the last four years, and many participated in a variety of our initiatives, including traveling to the Dominican Republic to build waterways for a community without access to clean water, venturing to Dubai to attend and participate in the United Nations Conference of the Parties, serving on the Youth Advisory Council, and more.
As much as we will miss our students as they embark upon this new chapter, we’re honored to celebrate their achievements at Global Kids and beyond – their efforts and perseverance have been an inspiration to us all. We wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors and know they will continue to effect positive change!

CELEBRATING 35 YEARS OF GLOBAL KIDS

On May 7, we were joined by our friends and supporters for our 35th Anniversary Celebration at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York City. This year’s milestone event raised nearly $150,000 to advance our mission to empower New York City and Washington, D.C. youth to succeed in school, advocate for change, and achieve their goals.
During the event, we presented the Carole Artigiani Scholarship to two of our alumnae, Laetitia Brutus from New York City and T’Lise Fuller from Washington D.C., which provided each student with $5,000 to support their academic goals.
This year’s benefit also honored Amber Sabathia, executive director of the PitCCh-In Foundation, for her ongoing commitment to youth development. The Players Alliance was instrumental in seeding the development of Global Kids’ Women in Sports Leadership (WiSL) program, inspired by Sabathia.
The celebration concluded with an inspiring fireside chat, during which MLB TV personality AJ Andrews led a discussion with Sabathia about her career as a baseball agent, and then invited two of our participating students from the WiSL program to discuss the evolution of WiSL and its impact. Following their discussion, we were proud to announce the establishment of the Amber Sabathia WiSL Scholarship.
The funds raised during this year’s benefit will enable us to further our mission, and ensure more youth have access to the tools and opportunities they need to succeed academically and become confident, well-rounded global citizens. Special thanks to our donors and sponsors for their continued support of our mission, and to all who joined us to make this milestone event a success!
