Trainer (DC)

Full-Time Position

Global Kids, Washington, DC (GK-DC) is seeking a dynamic, hard-working, driven individual with experience in youth development, global education, social justice activism, and a commitment in afterschool programming. This is a full-time position with an immediate start date. 

Responsibilities

Program Responsibilities:

  • Lead program recruitment, consist participation and retention efforts to ensure program effectiveness and program deliverables. 
  • Coordinate and assist with building relationships with school administration, faculty, and staff. 
  • Coordinate, develop and facilitate interactive, experiential workshops and activities aligned with GK- DC’s curriculum objectives. Take a lead role in writing curriculum/lesson plans focusing on global content and other key program areas. 
  • Coach and mentor less experienced program staff in program development, facilitation, and workshop design. 
  • Coordinate and implement planning for GK-DC key events such as youth conferences, leadership retreats and other special projects and field trips. 
  • Coordinate and assists with periodic parent/family engagement activities such as a program orientation, academic and college info sessions, family fun night, etc. 

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Serve as site manager/point person for school-based programs in the absence of a site supervisor.  
  • Work with program director/manager for program design/ scope of work  
  • Collaborate with school personnel on logistics for program implementation (e.g. space, security needs, permits, trip forms/permission slips).  
  • Collect, input and review attendance, evaluation and other data related to projects and student progress.  
  • Maintain necessary documentation/case files, as well as program data entry and records.  
  • Complete administrative tasks related to maintaining assigned GK equipment, fiscal procedures (fund requests and expense reports) and other tasks.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. 
  • Strong knowledge of and passion for global issues, political science, history, education and social activism.
  • Experience working with high school and middle school youth and/or using interactive learning strategies in culturally diverse settings.
  • Excellent facilitation, classroom management, consensus-building, and positive reinforcement build skills.
  • Positive and enthusiastic teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional work ethic, initiative, creativity, willingness to learn, and ability to juggle multiple tasks independently.
  • Exceptional communication, writing, and organizational.
  • Experience in/or strong interest in technology/digital media education preferred.
  • International experience, foreign language, and/or performing arts background a plus.

Salary/Benefits

This full-time exempt position has an annual salary of $40,000-$44,000 based on experience. GK also offers affordable medical benefits, dental, and life insurance as well as paid holidays, vacation time off, personal days, sick time and possibilities for travel. GK staff also have access to retail discounts through our Professional Employer Organization (PEO).
