Global Kids is seeking a talented, experienced and enthusiastic individual for its development team to spearhead a range of activities related to corporate and alumni engagement as well as volunteer initiatives and special projects.

Job Description

Global Kids is seeking a talented, experienced and enthusiastic individual for its development team to spearhead a range of activities related to corporate and alumni engagement as well as volunteer initiatives and special projects. This position will report to the Director of Development and work in tandem to develop new funding opportunities through corporate and volunteer engagement to create enriching opportunities to GK participants and external stakeholders. In collaboration with the Executive Director and the Director of Development, the Assistant Director of Strategic Partnerships will articulate and implement the strategic fundraising vision and leadership of the agency. This will include but not be limited to new revenue streams, volunteer development, recruitment of donors and advocates to GK and tracking and implementation of the three-year marketing plan. Externally, the Assistant Director of Strategic Partnerships will identify ways in which GK programs, activities and events can gain support and attention through media and online through social channels. The Assistant Director of Strategic Partnerships is part of a four-person Development team and also works collaboratively with members of the staff in all areas of the organization, particularly program.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of Strategic Partnerships will be responsible for:

  1. Corporate and Volunteer Engagement
  • Oversee the coordination, integration, and delivery of all employee engagement programs at school sites and institutional locations.
  • Develop and implement new initiatives that reflect the organization’s mission with the programming team to utilize the skills of volunteers to elevate program goals and opportunities for students.
  • Identify a stream of giving through volunteerism by working closely with the Director of Development.
  • Develop annual/quarterly plans that include overarching strategies, organizational infrastructure plans, evaluation metrics and forecasts of demand for volunteer needs.
  • Work in conjunction with the Director of Development to be the liaisons for major donor groups in engagement of more programs and continued funding.
 
  1. Relationship Building
  • Assist the Director of Development in establishing and cultivating relationships with corporate and institutions that can lead to further funding streams.
  • Develops an annual partnership outreach and engagement plan, and regularly updates it as new opportunities develop.
  • Develop strategic initiatives that could be built around or benefit from corporate, foundation, government or other partnerships.
  • Develop systems and procedures to support the identification, development and stewardship of strategic partnerships.
  • With support from ED, DD and DoD, develop a current and prospective partner pipeline, which includes tailored approaches for engagement.
  • Work with Directors team to identify speaking/community engagement opportunities to attend on behalf of GK, and help pair up those opportunities with relevant speakers or guests.
  • Liaise and meet with elected and government officials to garner support for GK.
  • Assist the Director of Development in mentoring, coaching and developing a diverse and committed team.
 
  1. Young Professionals Committee
  • Lead and manage the YPC with guidance from the chair as well as the Director of Development.
  • Establish yearly goals with the YPC members for their targeted fundraising events and other initiatives.
  • Develop group YPC opportunities 4-6 times a year in addition to arranging opportunities for members to host with their companies and/or network of good.
  • Host quarterly meetings with the members, developing the agenda with the chair prior to each meeting.
  • Write bi-monthly update emails to members to spotlight volunteer opportunities, GK programming as well as upcoming events they can attend or be a part of, including observing program.
 
  1. Alumni Network
  • Create and implement alumni engagement initiatives, to further alumni partnerships and support.
  • Conduct focus groups of alumni to help develop plans and timelines to accomplish a working alumni network.
  • Work with program to develop a mentorship pipeline with alumni to volunteer one-on-one with students.

And other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in related field, such as marketing, communications, nonprofit management and/or English, or Bachelor’s Degree with equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional fundraising, development and/or corporate and volunteer engagement experience.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in the development and creation of organizational materials and proposals for prospecting and relationship building.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with an ability to take initiative and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent judgment and sound decision-making capacity.
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments.
  • Ability to gather and synthesize data.
  • Open to trying new approaches to old problems.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and creativity.
  • Willingness and ability to work as a team player within the specific department and wider organization.
  • Upbeat, positive, and personable.
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends as necessary and travel to all boroughs.
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, database management, internet research & design software like Canva or Illustrator).
  • Interest in local and global issues, social justice, and youth empowerment a plus.
