GLOBAL KIDS ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC SUPPORTS NYC AND D.C. YOUTH
On October 1, we held our Annual Golf Classic at Pelham Country Club, where friends and supporters came together to tee off in support of Global Kidsโ mission. Following a day of friendly competition on the course, the event raised substantial funds to support more than 15,000 young people in New York City and Washington D.C. to seize transformative opportunities and achieve their dreams.ย
Since its inception in 2022, led by Global Kids Board Chair Richard Roberts, our Golf Classic has raised critical funds, enabling us to advance our mission to equip young people with the resources, experiences and opportunities they need to develop into engaged, global citizens. Weโd like to extend our gratitude to all who joined us โ we look forward to next yearโs tournament!

ANNUAL 5K RUN/WALK/PUSH RAISES FUNDS FOR CITYWIDE PROGRAMMING & TRAVEL
New York City locals laced up on October 12 to join our students, board members, and staff for our Annual 5K Run/Walk/Push at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. This yearโs 5K was organized to raise critical funds for our school-based, afterschool, and citywide programs, which provide our students with the tools they need to succeed in school and beyond. Additionally, funds supported our transformative travel opportunities, both domestic and international, enabling our students to visit college campuses, government agencies, and countries around the world โ empowering them to become agents of lasting change.
Leading up to the special event, we had the unique opportunity to speak with 1010 WINS, and were pleased to have NY1 Noticias join us day-of to speak with Global Kids Board Member Werner Ahlers and PS 96 Parent Coordinator Arlet Martรญnez about Global Kidsโ impact. GLOBAL KIDS CELEBRATES HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, Global Kids organized engaging events and initiatives across our school sites to introduce students to Hispanic trailblazers who have created opportunities and sparked positive change across multiple spectrums, including Selena Quintanilla, Frida Kahlo, Sonia Sotomayor, Pablo Picasso, Pablo Neruda, and more. As part of the celebration, our students worked with staff to give special performances, workshops, trivia activities, and learned about โArtivism,โ the power of utilizing art as a tool for activism.
Following our trip to Costa Rica where 20 of our high school students traveled to Turrialba to give back by restoring a local public school and learn about the countryโs rich history โ Global Kids Assistant Director of Practice and Impact Leslie Cano and two youth leaders had the exciting opportunity to share their experiences with WABCโs Tiempo, a broadcast segment focused on a variety of topics affecting local Hispanic citizens. SUPPORTING 25TH ANNUAL "LIGHTS ON AFTERSCHOOL" CELEBRATION
With the support of the Afterschool Alliance, Global Kids celebrated Lights On Afterschool, one of the leading nationwide events recognizing the impact of afterschool programs and how they support the success of students, families and local communities. In New York City and Washington, D.C., our program staff prepared a series of engaging community events that highlighted the enriching experiences offered through our afterschool programs.
In addition to the events, our students also participated in global learning workshops focused on the United Nations and global cooperation. Through these workshops, our students expanded their cultural awareness by learning about different countries and issues affecting their governmental and social infrastructure, designing their own national flags, and writing letters to global leaders addressing how change can be advanced to improve the lives of their citizens.
