To support a fair and complete count, Global Kids is working in partnership with the City University of New York (CUNY), Mayor de Blasio’s NYC Census 2020 office, and the New York City Council to mobilize New Yorkers to self-respond to the 2020 census. Global Kids mission is to educate, activate and inspire youth from underserved communities to take action on critical issues facing our world. For the census, Global Kids will form youth census “squads”, who will conduct public education workshops, special events, and census self-reporting activities in their school community and neighboring areas.
Global Kids is seeking an exceptionally qualified candidate for the role of Census Captain. In collaboration with NYC Census 2020, and GK’s Census Manager, the Census Captain will be responsible for coordinating a team of Census Organizers and youth #CensusSquads in educating community members about the significance of the census and the importance of census self-response; identifying and dismantling barriers to census participation; asking and encouraging New Yorkers to self-respond to the 2020 census; and connecting them to the tools and resources they need to self-respond.
This is a part-time, temporary position beginning immediately through May 15, 2020. Potential to explore part time or full time permanent employment when project concludes.
