Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support Coordinator

Full-Time Position

We are seeking a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support Coordinator. This position is responsible for the overall management of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports framework at John Adams High School, where Global Kids serves as lead community school partner. This includes providing training and technical assistance to school teams and PBIS Coaches in order to maintain and develop school-wide PBIS systems. The PBIS Coordinator will work with the Global Kids Community School team, school faculty and administration, students, and families to provide all PBIS-related services, and also support the goals of GK’s work and mission at the school.


  • Attend weekly PBIS meetings both in and out of the building and turn-key knowledge to staff members
  • Be the prime coordinator of collaboration between GK and John Adams HS on PBIS-related issues, under the supervision of GK’s Community School Director
  • Work with the Small Learning Community teams to help address minor classroom management issues, run or co-run mediations, and act as a pathway to solve minor student / teacher issues, following the ladder of discipline and PBIS
  • Support the GK’s Restorative Justice Specialist in developing a strong restorative justice structure and culture
  • Work with the COSA to develop PBIS identity through the creation of PBIS specific awards, activities, clubs, etc.
  • Work with the SLC Directors, AP Supervisions, and UFT Teacher Center Staff Developer to plan, develop, and present PBIS-related professional developments each month to each SLC.
  • Manage internal PBIS-related Google Applications
  • Design and implement SLC and in class PBIS lessons for staff and students.
  • Work with Deans office on sweep room and mediations
  • Attendance at after school events designed to promote/publicize Global Kids/JAHS
  • Coordinate PBIS consultation visits in and out of the school
  • Collaborate with DOE/Department of Health behavior specialists
  • Facilitate PBIS meetings
  • Analyze Data Trends to reflect and revise PBIS practices
  • Progress monitor Tier 1-3 PBIS Systems
  • Support GK programs as needed and appropriate


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, plus minimum five years of professional experience. Master’s a plus

  • Positive youth development and interactive training experience

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty

  • Ability to communicate with parents tactfully and to earn their respect, especially in difficult interview situations involving problem cases

  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAVE legislation and PBIS

  • Experience coordinating, planning, and delivering professional development for teachers and school staff 

  • Highly organized and efficient with administrative and clerical work

  • Experience working in a high school setting

  • Experience using Google Applications

  • Must have the ability to effectively implement administrative policies and procedures

  • Knowledge and skills in cultural competency, cross-cultural communication, and equity work

  • Must have interest in Global Kids mission

  • Language skills a plus
