Global Kids High School Part-Time Trainer

Part-Time Position

Global Kids, Inc. is seeking a dynamic, hard-working, and creative individual who is experienced in youth development, global education, and social action, and is interested in working in person in GK’s afterschool programs located in Transit Tech High School in Brooklyn, NY, funded by DYCD’s Learn and Earn initiative, formerly Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). COVID-19 vaccination is required.


  • Manage caseload of students including:
      1. support students with goal setting and plans to reach those goals
      2. provide academic counseling and support to follow up participants during their year after high school
      3. provide academic and professional development through individual and group coaching
      4. provide supportive and direct feedback to students to ensure leadership development, student engagement, and student retention.
      5. support students’ social and emotional development
      6. Conduct regular check ins, including follow up calls and emails with students/alums
      7. Collaborate with partner agencies and educational institutions to achieve the goals stated on the participant Individual Service Strategy (ISS)
      8. Managing caseload of Summer Internship Program including monitoring job placement, visiting job sites, collecting documents, and keeping files updated.
  • Assist with the development and co-facilitation of interactive, experiential workshops and activities for GK’s programming including leadership, college and career, and mentoring program
  • Conduct life skills, vocational, occupational and employment counseling, with groups and individuals
  • Collect and maintain necessary documentation including but not limited to enrollment forms, student eligibility documentation, student files, attendance, case notes, Equal Opportunity (EO) documents and program materials/handouts.
  • Keep accurate written case records and files that are necessary to meet contractual requirements and funder guidelines.
  • Serve as a positive, encouraging and affirming mentor to our youth.
  • Conduct program attendance outreach as needed
  • Assist with chaperoning trips


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience using interactive experiential learning strategies, counseling and conflict resolution skills, and youth development/leadership strategies with high school age youth.
  • Experience and enthusiasm for co-facilitating educational workshops.
  • Commitment to and understanding of working in culturally diverse settings and using antiracist pedagogical practices
  • Experience or strong interest in working with NYC public schools.
  • Strong communication, time management and technology skills (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Zoom).
  • Knowledge of and/or passion for global issues, political science, history, education and social justice and human rights.
  • Strong work ethic, initiative, creativity, and willingness to learn.
  • International experience a plus
  • Fluency in other languages is a plus

The High School Part-time Trainer will work during afterschool hours (M-Th, 1 – 5 pm and 4 hours on Friday), plus additional hours of training and meetings to be scheduled with GK staff. The salary is $21 an hour for up to 20 hours per week. GK also offers paid vacation time off, a personal day, and sick time. GK staff also have access to retail discounts through our Professional Employer Organization (PEO).
