GLOBAL KIDS CHRONICLES:

FEBRUARY 2025 UPDATE

Dear Global Kids Community,

This winter, our students have been actively engaged in meaningful initiatives that foster learning, leadership, and connection.

Most recently, Global Kids students participated in a powerful performance that brought Black history to life through a dynamic blend of storytelling, music, and theater. Through this experience, students were encouraged to reflect, draw inspiration, and deepen their understanding of the Black community’s notable contributions, resilience, and ongoing fight for social justice. In addition, students recognized Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day by expanding their knowledge and participating in a job readiness event, where they developed career-building skills with the guidance of volunteers from our Young Professional Committee.

We are also excited to celebrate the achievements of our exceptional student leaders, welcome new staff members, and recognize one of our executives for a well-deserved honor—all of which reflect our continued dedication to uplifting and empowering our community.

Read on to learn more about the inspiring ways our students and staff are making an impact!

Global Kids Empowers Youth in Honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Students and volunteers gathered on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to learn valuable job readiness skills from skilled professionals.

On January 20, Global Kids youth leaders and staff were joined by Global Kids Founder Carole Artigiani and volunteers from the Young Professional Committee (YPC) to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a job readiness event. As part of this initiative, students engaged in interactive workshops and networking activities, gaining hands-on experience in developing professional resumes, crafting elevator pitches, and learning job search strategies. They received guidance from YPC volunteers, a group of accomplished professionals from diverse fields such as accounting, engineering, education, business, and beyond, who shared their expertise and insights.

Through this experience, students developed valuable skills and confidence, empowering them to communicate their professional experiences effectively, pursue job opportunities and take meaningful steps toward their career goals.

Participating schools included Bronx Studio School for Writers and Artists, Transit Tech Career and Technical Education High School, John Adams High School, High School for Public Service, High School for Global Citizenship, and Central Park East High School.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Ms. Carole Artigiani, Dr. Robert Scott, and all the volunteers and staff for dedicating their time to inspiring our students to dream beyond the classroom and take the next step toward success.

Youth Leaders Recognize Black History Month with Impactful Performance

On February 6, Global Kids youth leaders from P.S. 21 Crispus Attucks Elementary School collaborated with Arts in Blue – a renowned organization specializing in culturally enriching and dynamic performances – to present The Living Library, a special production celebrating the power of Black history as a source of inspiration and empowerment for young global citizens.

Through this project, our students worked with the Arts in Blue creative team to combine storytelling, drama, music, and visual art to produce an unforgettable experience for their peers and family.

The performance not only showcased the extraordinary talents of our students but also immersed the audience in a vibrant celebration of Black heritage. It was a powerful opportunity to honor the past, celebrate the present, and inspire the future. Our students and staff also had the privilege of sharing the performance with local media, leading to an impactful segment that spotlighted key moments of the show.
