Trainer/Attendance Specialist

Global Kids, Inc. is seeking dynamic, hard-working, and creative individuals experienced in youth development, global education, and social action who are interested in working full time in our middle and/or high school programs supported by the NYC Community Schools Initiative in the South Bronx (middle/high school), Ozone Park (high school) and East Harlem (elementary/middle school).


Program Responsibilities:

  • Help develop, write and co-facilitate interactive, experiential workshops and activities for GK’s global education, academic enrichment and other programs.
  • Collaborate with GK staff and youth to generate new program ideas focusing on global/local issues and meeting the goals of Community School initiatives.
  • Provide individual academic counseling and support.
  • Lead all Global Kids efforts to assist partner school with attendance issues and challenges. This includes attending all school attendance meetings, developing metrics of analysis and communication around attendance, monitoring success in driving up attendance numbers, and analyzing all reasons for attendance challenges through a strength based and SEL/restorative lens.
  • Support and promote Global Kids efforts to collaborate with partner schools to develop a school climate that promotes safety, community, and positivity with the goal of making school attendance continuously more meaningful to students.
  • Work with other staff and students to implement the annual Global Kids Youth Conference and other special projects.
  • Conduct home visits when and where necessary.
  • Occasional overnight and long-distance travel required (annual overnight or multi-night youth retreat, college trips).
Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Use a variety of tools and strategies for analysis and communication to boost attendance numbers (e.g. New Visions, Kinvolved, robocalls, emails, phone calls).
  • Utilize incentives and special programs to boost attendance.
  • Collect and maintain necessary documentation including but not limited to enrollment forms, student files, attendance, case notes, program materials/handouts.
  • Help with/contribute to writing program progress reports to principals and supervisors, as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with school personnel, parents and other stakeholders.
  • Complete other administrative tasks (e.g., file maintenance, ordering supplies, program expense reports).


  • Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • Experience working in or with NYC public schools and a strong understanding of the NYC Community Schools Initiative and goals is a plus.
  • Knowledge of and passion for global issues, political science, history, education, and social justice and human rights.
  • Commitment to and understanding of working in culturally diverse settings and using antiracist pedagogical practices.
  • Good facilitation, consensus-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic, initiative, creativity, willingness to learn, and ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Strong communication, writing, administrative, organizational, and technology skills.
  • International experience is a plus.
  • Fluency in other languages is a plus (particularly Spanish, and South Asian languages and dialects).


This full-time exempt position has an annual salary of $40,000.
