Entry Six: Durban
After following the youth's activities this week, continuing the work from the Youth Summit, it is now coming to an end. Finally ALL the youth of the world can sit together and come to a decision. Today was one of the biggest days of my life, because I was a part of two things that made me know the world did hear my voice.

First, I was part of a LIVE radio broadcast to the U.S.A expressing my feelings about the WCAR. This was a very shocking experience because it was my first time doing a live broadcast, actually being on the radio, and that felt very good and I was proud of myself. The name of the radio show is Democracy Now. I learned that whenever you are doing a live broadcast, say the most important thing first because, as happened with us, you might not get to say everything you wanted to say (luckily for me, I got to say what I wanted to say because I spoke first, but Annie got cut due to technical difficulties).

After the live broadcast, I went back to the Youth meeting to approve the youth declaration. I missed the first half of the meeting, but I got there in the nick of time, to become a part of revising the youth declaration so we could all approve it.

When I entered the room, I was immediately called over and nominated to represent the Caribbean region, even though I didn't know what I was being nominated for. Then I realized that, many were called to this meeting, but few were chosen to revise the youth declaration. And I was one of the lucky ones.

So for the next four hours, we read the declaration paragraph by paragraph, revising and approving each one. There are 145 paragraphs, and we only got through 28 before we all went home for the night. I felt very good to be a part of something so big and it was a once in a lifetime chance.

Unfortunately, I was unable to finish the process - it was planned to continue on Saturday, first thing in the morning, but I already had plans to go to a safari for the weekend. So I asked Michele to represent me by going in my place. I felt good to be chosen to do this work, but felt sad to not be able to finish it the next day.

Both experiences were really really big and I thank everyone that helped me get here to do this work in Durban South Africa. One love.
