If more people knew half of what I learned in Global Kids, the world would be a better place. The most valuable thing I've learned was how to use wisdom, peace, and my voice to solve problems locally and globally.

Workshops for Youth

Global Kids offers workshops for youth, both in schools and outside of traditional academic settings in the form of special trainings. Workshops provide youth with the tools necessary to become healthy, productive members of their local and global communities by helping them develop the skills, attitude and behaviors needed to be informed and active citizens.

These workshops take place in the form of in-class, experiential workshops that connect academic subjects to students' lives and current world events. We have year-long programs at ten schools (nine high schools, one middle school) through-out the city. They also take place in the form of interactive workshops and special trainings at programs and schools where GK does not have on-going programs.

Subject matter for trainings have included youth in leadership development, conflict resolution, school change, respect for diversity, civic participation, voting, violence prevention, sexual harassment/appropriate behavior, youth as agents of change, human rights, global awareness. Other issues can be addressed upon request.

Programs can be provided in the form of:

  • One class period presentation
  • One or more two-hour workshops
  • One half-day training session (3 hours) or "Mini" Conference
  • Weekly, in-class sessions, once-per-week for 10 weeks
  • Weekly, in-class sessions, once per week for a full semester or school year
  • Year-long school-based Program, combining several program elements for youth and staff
